About this worksheet
Each question shows a graph of stars, circles and squares and asks one thing about it: which has the most, which has the fewest, or which has neither the most nor the fewest.
Mixing the questions means a child has to read each one, then compare the rows. The "neither" question asks them to rank all three rows, from most to fewest.
A worked example
Stars: 4. Circles: 3. Squares: 2. Which shape has neither the most nor the fewest?
- Count each row: stars 4, circles 3, squares 2.
- The most is stars, with 4.
- The fewest is squares, with 2.
- The one left is circles. Write "circles."
Answer: circles
The common mistake
What it looks like: Answering "most" for every question on the page.
Why it happens: After the first question asks for the most, a child may stop reading the question and answer it again.
How to fix it: Read each question aloud and point to its key word (most, fewest, neither) before looking at the graph.
Ten minutes a day, on paper. We plan what comes next.
