Privacy Policy
This policy explains what BrightPage, operated by Avenue Six LLC, collects, why, and who can see it. The short version: your family’s information is private. We never sell it, we never use it to advertise to you, and we share it only with the companies that help us run the service. The one exception is small: a pixel that tells Meta which of our own ads brought a visitor who signed up (see Cookies and analytics).
BrightPage is used by adults. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children under 13; everything we hold about a child comes from the parent, guardian or tutor who entered it.
1. What we collect
Your account. Username, email address, mobile number, time zone, paper size, and the times you verified your email and accepted the Terms. How you found us, if you arrived from a link or an ad: its campaign tags, the website that linked to us (not the page), and the first page you opened here.
Your children. First name, age, grade and interests, plus the settings you choose for them (practice minutes, starting topics, when to send a daily text). We do not ask for a child’s last name, birthday, school, photo or address.
Practice data. The worksheets we generate, the answers read from uploads, scores, mistakes, level-test results and the learning plan built from them.
Uploads. Photos and PDFs of completed worksheets, school material you add so practice can follow along, and attachments you send with feedback. Handwriting in these images is a child’s work; we treat it as sensitive.
Messages. Text messages we send and receive, delivery results, and the date and time you consented to texts or replied STOP or START. Emails we send, and whether you chose to receive our newsletter: when you chose it and the version of this policy in force then.
Sharing. Who you invited to a child, with what role, and when.
Founding-family applications. If you apply to be a founding family, your first name, email address, your children’s grades, whether they learn at school or at home, anything you choose to tell us, and how you found us. We use these only to choose families and to reply to you, and keep them until you ask us to delete them.
Our email list. If you join it from our site without an account, your email address, your child’s grade, whether they learn at school or at home, the page you joined from and how you found us, and when you confirmed (see Email).
Checking a free worksheet. If you check one of our free printable worksheets at brightpage.ai/check without an account, the photo you take of the finished page, and which free sheet it is. We use the photo only to score that page, and we do not keep it or link it to anyone (see Artificial intelligence).
Technical data. Request logs with an anonymous request id, your IP address, browser type, and timing information, kept to run and secure the service.
2. How we use it
- To make and print each child’s worksheets and choose what comes next.
- To read completed work and show you the results for review.
- To send the service emails; with your consent, the daily practice texts; and, only if you chose it, our newsletter (see Email).
- To let the people you invite work with a child.
- To answer your messages and fix problems.
- To understand how the service is used and make it better (see Analytics).
- To keep the service secure and meet legal obligations.
3. Artificial intelligence
BrightPage uses an AI provider (Anthropic) for two things: reading the answers on photos of completed worksheets, and writing or checking some worksheet questions. To read a worksheet we send the image, the printed questions and their expected answers; each sheet has the child's first name printed on it, so the image shows that name. To write questions we send the grade level, the task, the child's interests and, where relevant, recent work; we do not send names or account details with them.
When you check a free printable worksheet without an account, we send the AI provider the photo of that page and the sheet's printed questions and their answers. Free sheets have no name printed on them, and we send nothing about you with the photo. We delete the photo from our own systems as soon as the page is scored and save no record of the check; the provider handles it as described below.
This processing happens under the provider’s commercial API terms, which do not allow the provider to use our content to train its models. The provider deletes what we send within 30 days, unless its systems flag it as misuse. Reading results are stored with the worksheet so you can review and correct them.
Stories and questions written around a child's interests are original. They use the general idea of an interest — rescue puppies, a superhero of the child's own — and never characters, shows, games, toys or brands that belong to someone else.
5. Text messaging
BrightPage daily practice texts. When you give us a mobile number and check the consent box, we store the number, a record of each time you agree to or stop texts (when, where in the app, the wording you were shown, and the internet address and browser it came from), and the messages we exchange with you. We use them only to send practice notices for each child you opted in for — that a set is ready, or that pages are still to upload — to answer STOP, START and HELP, and to keep a record of your choices. Texts never carry marketing. They arrive between 8am and 8pm in your time zone; a set ready later is texted the next morning.
Mobile phone numbers and text-messaging opt-in data will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. They are shared only with our text-messaging provider (AgentPhone) so that messages can be delivered, and with carriers as part of delivery.
Reply STOP to any message to stop texts; reply START to resume; reply HELP for help. You can also turn texts off per child in the app. Message and data rates may apply. See the text-message terms.
6. Email
Service emails. We email you to verify your address, to tell you a new set is ready (you can turn these off in Settings), to deliver invitations when someone shares a child with you, and to answer your messages. These are not marketing.
Our newsletter, only if you choose it. When you sign up, and in Settings, there is a separate box to receive free printables and learning tips from BrightPage, about once a week. It is never ticked for you, and we send the newsletter only to people who ticked it. It is about BrightPage and children’s practice. We may choose which printables to send by your children’s grades; a child’s name, work or results never appear in it. You can also join it from our site without an account: we ask only for your email, your child’s grade and whether they learn at school or at home, and we email you once to confirm before sending anything else. Every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can turn it off in Settings at any time; turning it off does not stop service emails. When you unsubscribe, or an address bounces or reports our mail as spam, we keep a note of the address so we never send it the newsletter again. The newsletter is sent through our email provider (Resend), and we do not share your address with anyone else to market to you.
7. Children’s privacy
BrightPage is not directed at children and children do not have accounts. The adult who creates an account enters a child’s first name, age, grade and interests and uploads photos of the child’s written work. We use that information only to provide practice for that child and to show the adult the results.
If you believe a child under 13 has created an account or that we hold a child’s information without an adult’s permission, contact support@brightpage.me and we will delete it. A parent or guardian can review or delete a child’s information at any time from the child’s settings.
8. Your choices and rights
- Change your email, mobile number and time zone in Account settings.
- Turn daily texts on or off per child, or reply STOP.
- Turn the newsletter on or off in Settings, or use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter.
- Remove people you invited, or leave a child someone shared with you.
- Delete a child from the child’s settings; this removes the child’s data.
- Ask us at support@brightpage.me to send you a copy of your data or to delete your account. We honor these requests for everyone, wherever you live, and we will confirm your identity first.
9. How long we keep it
We keep your account and your children’s practice data, including photos of completed work, while the account exists, because the history is what makes the next worksheet a good one. We do not delete it on a timer.
Deleting a child removes that child’s worksheets, uploads, results and saved planning previews from our database at once, and from file storage and backups within 7 days. Deleting an account does the same for everything in it, except the record of when a number agreed to or stopped texts, which we keep without your account details so we can show that we honored it. Server logs are kept for a limited time for security.
10. Security
Files are stored privately and served only through your signed-in session or short-lived signed links. Connections are encrypted. Passwords are stored hashed. Access to a child’s data is limited to the people the owner invited. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting you, we will tell you.
11. Cookies and analytics
BrightPage uses one session cookie to keep you signed in and stores a small flag in your browser to remember that you are signed in. A third cookie of our own remembers how you first found us, and how you most recently arrived from a link or an ad, for up to 90 days; if you create an account, that is kept with it. The one advertising cookie we use is the Meta Pixel’s, described below.
We use Google Analytics to understand how the service is used: which screens are visited, which actions are taken (for example printing a set or uploading a page), how long things take, and where errors happen. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to recognise a returning browser. We send it an account number and counts, not names, email addresses, phone numbers, interests, or the content of a child’s work, and we do not enable advertising features or Google Signals. You can block it with a browser extension such as Google’s own opt-out add-on; the service works the same without it.
We also use PostHog, a product analytics service hosted in the United States, for the same purpose and under the same rules: it receives the same events, an account number, and counts, never names, email addresses, phone numbers, interests, or the content of a child’s work. PostHog sets its own cookie to recognise a returning browser. It may also record how the screens of the service are used; in those recordings every word shown or typed and every photo is masked before it leaves your browser, so they show where you went and what you tapped and nothing of your child’s. Blocking it works the same way as above, and the service works the same without it.
We advertise on Meta’s platforms (Facebook and Instagram), and to know which ads bring families to BrightPage we use the Meta Pixel. On our public site it records the pages you visit and when you click to start a trial or send us a form; in the app it is loaded only at the moment an account is created, to record that a trial began, and never on the screens about your child. Meta sets its own cookie to recognise a browser and may link these events to a Meta account you are signed in to, under Meta’s own privacy policy. We send it no names, email addresses, phone numbers, or anything about a child. You can opt out in your Meta ad settings or block it with a browser extension; the service works the same without it.
12. Where data is stored
The service runs in the United States and data is stored there. If you use BrightPage from elsewhere, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. For meaningful changes we will show the new version in the app and ask you to accept it. The effective date and version at the top of this page tell you which version you are reading.
