About this worksheet
Most nouns add -s for more than one, but a few common ones change their spelling instead: child, children; tooth, teeth; woman, women.
Each sentence uses the word in context, so the child decides how many there are before writing the plural.
A worked example
The two (woman) painted the fence by the garden gate.
- "Two" means more than one, so the word needs its plural.
- Woman doesn't add -s. It changes: woman becomes women.
- Write women on the line.
Answer: women
The common mistake
What it looks like: Writing "foots", "mouses" or "tooths".
Why it happens: Adding -s works for most nouns, so the child applies it everywhere.
How to fix it: Keep a short list of the change-the-word plurals (feet, teeth, mice, children, women) and check it whenever the -s version sounds odd.
